POSTPONED - Louth Pie Day
Attention switches to community effort during crisis but an autumn Louth Pie Day might be possible.
Government orders for everyone to stay at home because of the Coronavirus pandemic mean that Louth Pie Day – planned for Wednesday 15 April – is postponed. Until the health crisis is over, people must stay at home except for essential journeys, and most high street shops have shut or have changed the way they sell.
But with so much enthusiasm and goodwill already behind it, not to mention sponsorship, there are tentative plans for Louth Pie Day and the Lincolnshire Pie Championship in the autumn, as soon as the Government allows events again. If that’s not possible, then Louth Pie Day 2021 will be something to really look forward to.
Hold on to your tickets
- Everyone who has bought Louth Pie Day 2020 tickets is advised to hold onto them for now.
- If there is a rescheduled Louth Pie Day 2020 in the autumn, your tickets will still be valid.
- Or you can get a refund when national restrictions are lifted and shops are open normally again. Then you can visit the shop in person.
While many celebratory events have been either put on hold or cancelled, the vital business of feeding people has become the priority for many independent food retailers in Louth. They have risen to the challenge by switching their business operations to take-out and, in some cases, delivery services. Louth was already exceptional for the
number of its superb independent food shops and the Coronavirus health crisis has shown them at their best. Bakers, butchers, cafés, pubs and restaurants that were
gearing up for Louth Pie Day, as well as greengrocers and corner shops, have become heavily involved in food deliveries in Louth and surrounding areas, and are now
supporting residents.
