Illuminate 2022

26 Nov 2022

Returning this November, Illuminate Gainsborough 2022 promises to be a fabulous evening of projections, lanterns and a spectacular fire garden right in the town’s historic heart.

Projections will illuminate Gainsborough Old Hall and a magnificent fire garden will bring the grounds of All Saints Church to life along with street performers and music.

There will also be a guided walk (starting at 5.30pm) along the Trent riverside where visitors can make their own lanterns beforehand to bring with them.

Last year’s event attracted approximately 2000 people, inviting them to connect with the rich heritage of the town through the Mayflower 400 anniversary. We’re excited to be bringing back Illuminate uniting our local communities to share what they love about where they live.

During the day there will be a self-guided town trail featuring Gainsborough artist Karl Wood’s paintings on shop windows through the town centre; and a Portrait Exhibition featuring specially commissioned photography portraits by Steven Hatton of West Lindsey residents on display at Gainsborough Heritage Centre, 10am-4pm. Please note normal admission applies (£3 adults, Children Free).

This event is funded with thanks to Arts Council England, West Lindsey District Council and Gainsborough Town Council.
