Nestling on the hillside at the northern edge of the Wolds, this lovely Georgian market town is one of three Lincolnshire Wolds 'Walkers are Welcome' towns. The Viking Way runs through the town and it has 56 listed buildings in the centre. The Civic Society organise regular walks around the town giving visitors a peek into the fascinating history of this lovely town with history dating back to the Roman times.
Markets are held on Saturdays and it also the location of a renovated Methodist Chapel, featured on BBC's Village SOS programme, now called Caistor Arts and Heritage Centre, where the local library and heritage timeline sit alongside a cafe where lovely food, cake and drinks are served daily.
Nearby you can find the villages of Nettleton, with its Ironstone mining history, Claxby, with its vineyard and Grasby with its lovely All Saints church.
