Two circular walks in and around Binbrook; one of 2 miles (3 km), the other of 3 miles (5 km)

These two walks give the chance to explore the area around the village in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds. The walk starts in the Market Place, and although markets are no longer held here, it is still an important trading area of the village with many local shops.

Whilst both walks take in many interesting buildings and features, the longer walk also crosses an area rich with wild flowers.

Distance: 2 miles (3 km) and 3 miles (5 km)
Time: Allow 1 hour for the shorter walk; 1 ½ hours for the longer walk

Parking: Considerate parking is available throughout the village
Terrain: The walk is mainly on paths and tracks with some slopes, stiles and roadside walking. Some paths may be muddy, so stout shoes or boots are recommended.
Toilets: Toilets are situated off Market Place.

Step by step instructions

Let's set off!

Starting the walk in the Market Place, walk towards the Plough Hill on the Louth Road. Go past the church on your left.

Take the bridleway on the right up the hill.

At the top of the hill, turn right on a footpath and walk down the hill, cross over a small stream and enter the southern end of St Mary’s Lane.

Turn left along the narrow part of St Mary’s Lane, cross the stile and bear right across the grass field to a stile next to the last bungalow on Ludford Road.

Turn right and follow the road ahead through Market Place, turn left at the T junction (by the old ‘Marquis of Granby’ pub). Cross the road with care and continue to the school.

Turn right on the footpath across the school playground and continue along School lane. On entering North Halls, continue straight ahead until it joins the Grimsby Road, opposite the pump.

Cross Grimsby Road and turn left.

For the shorter walk:

A: At the bottom of the hill turn right into Meadow Drive and continue along until it joins Louth Road.

B: Turn right and return to Market Place.

Continue on the Grimsby Road up the hill for a short distance and turn left along the public footpath. At the water treatment plant, cross the stream and follow the line of the stream to the old watermill.

Cross the stream and join the track up the hill.

At the road turn right and follow it back to the Market Place. Take extreme care as there is very little grass verge and the road is often busy.
