Coastal Charm

Discover Lincolnshire’s beautiful beaches and coastal charm…

Just a stone’s throw from the Lincolnshire Wolds lies the Lincolnshire coast, home to some of the most pristine beaches in the UK. In addition to the popular seaside resorts, there are many quieter dog-friendly beaches which are often secluded for most of the year. There are also beautiful nature reserves dedicated to conservation and protecting the birds, seals and wildlife that live in habitats along the shores. With so much to see and do, all year round, planning a trip to the Lincolnshire coast has never been easier.

Traditional resorts like Skegness, Mablethorpe, and Ingoldmells attract visitors from across the country, but away from the family fun-filled seaside resorts, Lincolnshire also boasts a sheltered, more concealed coastline.

Enjoy Lincolnshire’s wildlife conservation areas…

Explore the wilder and more natural coast at Theddlethorpe, Sandilands and Anderby Creek; a bolthole coastal village and home to one of Lincolnshire’s most stunning sandy beaches. Anderby Creek features stretches of unspoilt beach and sloping sand dunes, a perfect place to grab your binoculars and see if you can spot some of the millions of birds that migrate to our coast from across the globe at the Round and Round House. Alternatively, take a seat at the Cloud Bar. Sit back, relax and admire the cloud formations as they drift overhead, from the UK’s first purpose-built cloud viewing platform.

Get to grips with nature and take a walk on the wild side…

Visit the nature reserves and wildlife habitats while seeking out some of the rarest and most spectacular wildlife along the beautiful Lincolnshire coast…

Head to Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve to get up close and personal with the sheer scale of bird species that descend on the reserve. In the summer rare little terns can be seen fishing in the shallows and skylarks can be seen in full song above the purple haze of the saltmarshes. After wildlife spotting, take some time out to explore the footpaths around the reserve before heading to the visitor centre for a well-earned pitstop in the café, which serves an array of local produce.

Travel a little further up the coastline to Donna Nook Nature Reserve, rich in bird wildlife and renowned for being one of the best places in the UK to spot grey seals, which come ashore each winter to give birth to their baby seal pups. The viewing area is open from late October to December.

Visit the North Sea Observatory at Chapel Point, the UK’s first purpose-built coastal marine observatory. Enjoy panoramic views out to sea through the geometric shapes and large windows. Spot the beautiful wildlife in their natural habitats as you stand high above the sand dunes, before exploring the inside of the centre which boasts an exhibition area, art space and a café. Head outside and enjoy a nice quiet walk along the beach which also serves as an impressive gateway to the Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park.

For the perfect mix of coast and countryside, head to the Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park; it’s made up of beach, sea walls and footpaths that allow you to cross working agricultural farmland and pretty villages along the way.
