We also focus on some of our local, sustainable, eco-friendly and handmade businesses. Read on!
Frances Ward - Soul View Space Reflexology
We were lucky enough to be invited to Frances's lovely studio in West Ashby to see what reflexology is all about.
Frances is a fully certified and a member of the Association of Reflexologists and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council. We asked her what reflexology means to her and how it can enhance your wellbeing and here is what she had to say:
“Reflexology is a great treatment for our overall wellbeing. It helps to bring all of the body’s systems into correct alignment, while having time out to experience a deep sense of peace and relaxation”.
Reflexology is a complimentary therapy which can be beneficial for anyone at any age. A reflexologist uses a range of techniques on the reflex points found on our hands and feet to bring each area of our body back to balance. It enables healing to occur naturally and supports our overall wellbeing. Reflexology does not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe, but it is a very individual treatment tailored to the whole person. It takes into account both physical and non-physical factors that might affect our wellbeing. There are lots of benefits connected with reflexology, for example stimulating nerve function, releasing toxins, boosting circulation and increasing energy levels.
Our lives are made up of challenges and some can have a negative effect on our mind and body. Therefore, having a range of resources to support these challenges is key to maintaining the balance as we need to manage our overall wellbeing in a healthy way. Our resources might include meaningful activities, such as hobbies, exercise, helping others and having good social connections. Stress management and good sleep are important factors too and reflexology can support this. It helps to calm and stabilise our mood and emotions, which means we can respond to life’s challenges in a helpful way rather than having a reaction that could bring more stress."
Here are some treatment options:

First Treatment with free consultation (up to 90 mins) £40
Subsequent full foot treatments (60 mins) £40

All Sewn Up by Debs
Many of you will be aware of the little sewing shop just under the Farmer's Club archway in the Market Place. You will find loads of inspiration here if you want to handmake something this Mothers' Day. Pop in for inspiration! Debs also offers a Sewing Bee group where you can meet like minded people, in a creative environment.
Here is what Debs has to say about self-care: "Self-care has never been more important than it is today. People lead very busy demanding lives and it is very easy to neglect your own health. Especially mental wellbeing. Stitching can be a great daily practice to nurture a sense of wellbeing. It doesn't have to be a large project and you don't have to know huge number of stitches. The act of setting aside a piece of time for you is a game changer. Keep it simple, especially to begin with. A piece of cloth, thread, needle and scissors and you can be away. It's your work so you only need to please YOU!
Workshops are another way to self-care and increase your wellbeing. When you attend a workshop although it can be daunting at first, you are meeting with a group of people who are like minded, which is a good place to be to share practices, ideas, to inspire. We are very friendly and love newcomers joining us. You might be tempted to book on a workshop that means you will be learning a new technique. This is a fabulous thing to do. Learning something new has a really positive impact on one’s sense of self and sense of achievement.
So self-care and wellbeing needs to be practised regularly, daily if possible and it must be for you, what you enjoy, what encourages you. You may try a few things out before you find one that you really love. However it must not become burdensome. It should definitely be something that excites you and you look forward to and want to repeat. A little oasis, if you like, in your busy schedule."
Debs has all you need in her shop to get you started in has some fantastic Mother's Day kits available this year. Kits are a super present and come with easy to follow instructions so are perfect for the beginner or the more advanced sewer alike! Debs also offers gift vouchers for any amount above £5.

The Foxglove Tree
How about purchasing something a local, award-winning business? Clare started The Foxglove Tree during lockdown and it has gone from strength to strength. Inspired by local support and deciding that her business had great potential Clare also took the plunge to take part in former Dragons Den star Theo Paphitis’s Small Business Sunday competition and was lucky enough win the opportunity to have a stand at the Spring Fair the UK’s largest retail fair! As Clare explains: "It was an amazing opportunity that would not have been possible without winning the #sbs competition. It was completely daunting and terrifying at the same time. To be honest, as I was up against some very well known, extremely established brands, I had a huge dose of imposter syndrome. However, I grabbed the opportunity with both hands and the response from the visitors to the fair was incredibly encouraging and incredibly positive."
The future is looking bright and exciting for the little business. They are now booking stands at this year’s fabulous local events (see mention of the Walled Garden Baumber Wellbeing Week at the end of this blog). With the weather slowing starting to warm up it will soon be time to get casting new designs from the flowers and plants as they grow. With plans to find more new stockists and develop online sales they hope to continue to grow and expand the business, whilst keeping everything crossed for a win in The Gift of the Year Awards. You can help The Foxglove Tree by voting for them in the Peoples Choice Award category. Voting is super easy, just follow this link:
https://www.giftoftheyear.co.uk/2023-entries/home-fragrance/botanical-cast-fragrance-diffusers
then select Cast your Vote. It takes seconds and there is no form filling and your vote will help fly the flag for Lincolnshire small businesses.
Meanwhile you can support this business by making a gorgeous purchase for Mother’s Day. The Botanical Cast Fragrance Diffuser is a best seller and is a wonderful way to give a lasting gift. Notes can be personalised, just get in touch with Clare: www.thefoxglovetree.co.uk

Don't forget, plenty of interest to come in April's blog but before we go, a reminder of the Wellbeing Week, running from 18th to 21st April inclusive at the Walled Garden Baumber. They are going to have some fantastic stalls, therapists and practitioners coming to this event. With stalls treatment areas, demonstrations and classes, all taking place in Montagues, their new wedding and events centre. Entrance is free and the tearooms and gardens will be open for you to visit and enjoy. If you would like a stall, treatment area or to run a class, they do have a few spaces remaining.
