This beautifully landscaped park is a 10 minute walk from both the town centre and the Wolds Wildlife Park. So it’s a great place to relax, stretch your legs or go for a picnic.

It was opened in 2010 to give new life to an old landfill site and former brick pits, the clay from which was used to build the historic town we see today.

There are several viewing points constructed from corten steel which look out over a pond and the trickling River Bain, or across the Bain Valley from the top of the old landfill.

The old brick pit is now a thriving pond for wildlife and fishing. Whilst grassy banks ideal for kids to play on are managed for wildflowers. There’s a network of winding paths that make it a perfect spot for youngsters trying out a scooter or just letting of steam.

You will also find a range of seating carefully placed to make the most of the views. Whilst there are not any formal play or sports equipment, there’s a large level area on top of the hill for picnics or a kick about.

Look out for information boards for more information on the site’s history and wildlife.

Access from south via North Street and Southwell’s Lane or Hemingby Lane in the North. There is on site parking for disabled visitors only, with access off Hemingby Lane.
