A circular walk of 9 miles from Market Rasen through Tealby village.

This walk starts at Market Rasen and heading through woods and fields taking you high into the wolds for some fine views towards Lincoln on a clear day. Arguably, Tealby is one of the prettiest villages in the Wolds; it is a good stopping point for a break or refreshments.

Distance: 9miles (14½km)
Time: Approx 4 to 5 hours at a leisurely pace.
Parking: Car park in John Street, Market Rasen – Grid ref: TF 106 890 Postcode LN8 3HH
Terrain: Good footpaths and bridleways which can be very muddy at times. Some verge walking. Gentle climbs.
Toilets: John Street Market Rasen; Memorial Hall, Tealby (obtain key from shop)
Stiles: Some. Many are stock proof and therefore may be difficult for some dogs.

Step by step instructions

Let's set off!

Start at the car park in John Street, Market Rasen. Leave the car park by the John Street entrance and turn right.

At the end, cross the main road into the Market Place. Go into the churchyard and follow the path to the left. Turn right, and then first left into Church Street. At the T-junction, turn left and continue to the end.

Cross straight over the road to go down the footpath at the side of Waterloo House. Follow the path past the floodwater storage area.

As you continue on this path, ahead of you is Hamilton Hill and Willington Woods. The footpath continues straight across a field and through the woods.

At the junction where 5 paths meet under telegraphs poles, continue on the main footpath under the telegraph poles. Continue ahead until you meet the Rasen Road.

Cross the road then turn left; where the road bends to the left, go straight up the bridleway.

Walk between the farmyard and house and follow the track.

Cross Catskin Lane and continue over the cattle grids towards the houses.

Go through Risby Manor farmyard and follow the track to the road.

At the road turn right, and then turn right again down the track to the North Wold Farm.

Go left round the buildings, go through a gate and stay on the footpath to cross several fields.

From the top of the hill you ay be able to see Lincoln Cathedral on the horizon.

Go through the gate by Mill Farm and down the track into Tealby.

At the road turn right, and cross the road at the end. Turn left down the footpath next to the Lincolnshire Wolds board.

Continue ahead, until you reach the King’s Head sign. Follow Sandy Lane to the right, then bear left at the Y-junction.

Turn right along the footpath by the stream. Go over toe bridge and follow the young River Rase. Continue past the sewage works.

Where there are two stiles, continue ahead to the hemlet of Tealby Thorpe.

Turn left, then cross the bridge over the Rase and turn right. Follow the footpath to the Dairy Farm.At the farm, the path crosses to the left of the buildings.

Turn left onto the main forest track, and turn right onto another track towards the buildings.

Stay on the track, past the buildings on your left and cottage on your right. Continue straight ahead as the track becomes a narrow woodland path.

At the junction where five paths meet under telegraph poles. Where the pole go sharp right, follow the path left.

Retrace your steps back to Market Rasen.
